I kicked off this federal holiday the only way I know how: watching and sobbing over the latest episode of Star Trek Discovery. Shazad Latif is doing a phenomenal job on that show and you should read my fellow Fangrrl Swapna's latest interview with him if you haven't already.

Now that I've recovered, I put together some links for you:

- On Black Lightning and the power of intentional Blackness in superhero TV. (Nerds of Prey)
- Shipping can be just as fun without an endgame. (Ms En Scene)
- Black Mirror uses color to set two very different tones in “USS Callister.” (Apartment Therapy)
- The 25 best (bad) movies ever made are available to watch if you know where to look. (ScreenCrush)

You can send us suggestions for stuff to include in future round-ups at any time, either in the comments below or via our Twitter feed at @Syfyfangrrls.
