Sometimes the beginning of the week can be slow for geek news, but that hasn’t been the case so far.

Between the first teaser trailer for Annihilation (which I am instantly here for because it contains such faves as Natalie Portman, Oscar Isaac, and Gina Rodriguez) and the celebration of the re-issue of the Josie and the Pussycats soundtrack on vinyl (with surprise cast reunion!), this has been a Very Good Week.

Now, your links:

- 2017 has been a banner year for horror so far. Here’s a top-notch list of some of the most disturbing and depraved fare. (Newsweek)
- In celebration of the anniversary of Josie and the Pussycats, an oral history of the best fake band ever. (The Fader)
- Shonda Rhimes is honestly career goals; this interview wherein she touches on her success is worth a read. (Business Insider)
- Why do people sometimes faint during a distressing movie or play? This piece has the science. (The Atlantic)

You can send us suggestions for stuff to include in future round-ups at any time, either in the comments below or via our Twitter feed at @Syfyfangrrls.
