On this day in 1938, Orson Welles broadcast War of the Worlds.

Word is that people went nuts. There was pandemonium as everyone thought this was an actual alien invasion. People crashed into ditches! Dug trenches. Freaked out.

And also? That's always been blown a little bit out of proportion, let's be honest.

It was also on this day in 2012 that Disney bought Lucasfilm. It wasn't that long ago, but it definitely changed just about everything you know about the Star Wars universe.

Today is also Fonzie's birthday. Born on this day in 1945, Henry Winkler is a national damn treasure, team.

Tomorrow: Get ready to be terrified.
