The CW has released new promo posters for its fall shows, including Arrow and Beauty and the Beast, and they shy away from fairy-tale elements and focus on the darker side of our heroes.
Judging by the posters, both shows have undergone some cosmetic changes. Stephen Amell, who plays Oliver Queen on Arrow, showcases a body covered with scars. Considering his character's rough origin, the damage makes sense. Plus, we're reminded of it with the new tagline "Destiny Leaves Its Mark."
Arrow "tells the story of billionaire playboy Oliver Queen, who moonlights as a crime-fighting vigilante looking to clean up the streets of Starling CIty." The character was previously played by Justin Hartley, who co-starred on the defunct Smallville. The actor will now appear on The CW medical dramedy Emily Owens, M.D.
As for Beauty and the Beast, its poster asks the question "How Brave Is Your Love?" It takes the black-and-white approach, with the exception of the title and Jay Ryan's (Vincent/The Beast) eyes. Ryan appears slightly different from the first poster the network released. They've given him a haircut and a beastly stare, but his scar is still the same. Will we ever see him in his true monstrous form?
Arrow premieres Oct. 10 at 8 p.m., while Beauty and the Beast debuts Oct. 11 at 9 p.m.
