Supergirl has been officially renewed and will be flying over to The CW.
After rumors and speculations, it’s been made official: Supergirl will join the rest of Greg Berlanti’s Arrowverse, which currently includes The Flash, Arrow and DC’s Legends of Tomorrow on The CW.
With the recent crossover episode between Supergirl (Melissa Benoist) and The Flash (Grant Gustin) proving super popular with the fans, this is a wise move that will offer plenty more crossover opportunities now that they’re all on the same network.
Maybe now we’ll get to have the first meeting between the Maiden of Might and Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell), or with the crew of the Waverider (from Legends of Tomorrow). Only thing, since it’s been established Supergirl takes place in an alternate Earth than the rest of the Arrowverse, will they change that? Food for thought.
With the move, expect some budget cuts because of a smaller network. The CW doesn’t have the same kind of money to splurge on their shows that CBS has. One way to help cut down cost will be for the production to move from the very expensive Los Angeles to Vancouver, where the other shows are filmed. Another would be to cut some cast members loose. This has yet to be confirmed by The CW, and whether this will affect the quality of the production will remain to be seen.
Are you excited to see Supergirl renewed for a second season and moving from CBS to The CW?
