We still have more than a year to wait, but some of the first intel about the Kingsman: Secret Service sequel has finally made it out into the wild.
A new feature in Empire has revealed the film’s title will be Kingsman: The Golden Circle, and it will star Julianne Moore as the Big Bad. Halle Berry (X-Men) will also play a role, though the details aren’t exactly known. The story also revealed that the action will mostly shift to the United States this time around, focusing on the Statesman (the U.S. equivalent of the Kingsman). The first film's heroes Eggsy and Merlin enlist the assistance of the Statesmen to shut down whatever Moore's character is doing.
Here’s how director Matthew Vaughn described the project:
"I didn't know if I wanted to direct this or not. I was worried about the villain. Spy films are only as good as their villains. Then one morning I woke up with the whole storyline in place, and a new villain plot. You try not to read what people want, but they do want another church sequence. I have no reason for another massacre to happen. But I have other sequences you've never seen before.”
Some concept art was also released, including a look at the Statesman’s HQ (housed in a whiskey factory) and the baddie’s secret lair Poppyland. The art also shows off a Kingsman cab, which can pull some old-school James Bond moves, converting itself in a boat on the fly. Check out some scans right here.
