This week sees the launch of Cartoon Network's latest cartoon, O.K. K.O. Let's Be Heroes, an animated series about three friends who work in a supermarket and live in a world populated by superheroes and video game characters.
The show started life as a short, part of Cartoon Network's Summer Shorts project of 2013. It then became a web cartoon and a mobile game. Now it is a full series on the network, with a console game coming soon.
We spoke with series creator Ian Jones-Quartey about working with Cartoon Network, the longer-than-usual journey to the small screen, and how the console game won't be "just a tie-in" for the series. And, of course, punching robots. Because every show should be about punching robots.
O.K. K.O. Let's Be Heroes premiered on Cartoon Network on August 1.
