When it comes to comic books revolving around giant transforming sentient robots, the San Diego-based IDW Publishing takes the sterling crown. Besides its flagship line of tantalizing Transformers titles, including the new "Lost Light" story arc, the company has been delivering some colorful crossovers with other Hasbro properties in its Revolution and Revolutionaries mini-series that broaden the scope and appeal of its robots in disguise.

Written by John Barber (The Transformers: More Than Meets The Eye) with pencils from Priscilla Tramontano (Godzilla: Rulers of Earth), this year's Transformers Annual stomps into comic shops on March 8, with a highlight being chronicling the moment in time when Optimus Prime first met Bumblebee.

Here's the official solicitation synopsis:

GHOST STORIES! Optimus Prime returns to Cybertron — only to be confronted by his rival for the Matrix, Pyra Magna! As Pyra's origin — before she was part of Victorion — is finally revealed, Optimus relives his own past — the first time he met Bumblebee!
