With Independence Day: Resurgence hitting the big screen later this month, the studio has decided to dig the original film out of the archive for an old-school double feature.

The original film is a modern classic, and though we’ve all probably seen it a few hundred times on cable, there’s just something about the opportunity to see a feel-good 1990s sci-fi flick back on the big screen. Plus, considering how closely the sequel will build on the events of the first film, it’s probably not a bad idea to revisit it before seeing Resurgence.

Tickets are on sale now, and we still haven’t told you the best part — the double feature gives you a chance to see both films for the price of just one ticket. The original Independence Day will kick off at 5 p.m., followed by a 3D screening of the sequel at 8 p.m. The double feature event is set for Thursday, June 23 (one day early!). Tickets are available via Fandango.

Independence Day: Resurgence opens June 24.

Do you plan on checking out the double feature event? Is there still an audience for ID4 on the big screen?
