Neither Joss Whedon nor Sarah Michelle Gellar will be involved with the upcoming big-screen Buffy reboot, but one alum still hopes to be a part of the project— Kristy Swanson, who was the first to bring Buffy Summers to life way back in the original 1992 film.

"If they wanted me to be a part of it, I think that would be fantastic and that it would be a blast," Swanson told Entertainment Weekly.

Unlike SOME of you who commented on our earlier stories, she's looking forward to the franchise being reborn no matter who's in charge. "There are die-hard Joss Whedon fans who absolutely love him to death, and rightly so. He's a brilliant man, no doubt. I love everything Buffy. I don't care who's doing it."

Luke Perry, who co-starred in the 1992 film, had no comment on the project.

How about you? Do you think Swanson should be a part of a big-screen Buffy?
