Our favorite Twitter reactions to Season 1 of The Defenders

It’s August 18, which in case you didn’t already know, is the drop date for Season 1 of The Defenders on Netflix. It completes Phase One (yes, Marvel's still doing that) of Marvel's TV universe and sets up Phase Two. That’s right, now we can see Daredevil (Charlie Cox), Jessica Jones (Krysten Ritter), Luke Cage (Mike Colter), and Iron Fist (Finn Jones) fight … ninjas, what else? Actually they fight a lot of bad dudes and even each other a few times, because it's so hard to trust people these days. Especially hipster-looking guys who like to mansplain everything.

Are you ready? These guys are.

Now that each of Marvel’s street-level characters has been fleshed out in their own series, they’ve come together to take on more bad guys in hallways and clean up the streets of New York from crime lords, and yes, Sigourney Weaver too.

Some of you on the eastern side of the country stayed up until 3 a.m. or woke up really early to take in the first punches, while others are sneaking it in while they work (shh, we won’t tell) ...

But the early reactions are beginning to pour in and #Defenders is already trending and will likely dominate the entertainment trends as long as nothing happens in the Oval Office.

The early verdict is generally positive, though unfortunately it appears that some of the valid concerns about some of the individual Defenders treatments are still there.

But like the MCU films, it's all about those team-ups ...

It’s clear there are some favorite scenes already ...

Charlie's got his fans too.

So, despite Danny still being, well, Danny, let it be known that the rest of the Defenders pile on him throughout Season 1, as their whipping boy. So if you find yourself stuck at work, or you’ve planned out how when you’re starting your marathon or figured out how to make it last for the whole weekend, just remember, it could be worse. You could be this guy …

Relax, clear your schedule and get your squad together…

and be comforted by those who have burned through it all already.

Because dreams can come true...

On a related note, it pays to tweet while you binge, because you could see painter Alex Ross give away signed comics ...

And remember, today is also the birthday of current writer of The Defenders comic, co-creator of Jessica Jones, and chief influence of this version of Luke Cage, who you see on the screen, Brian Michael Bendis! So be sure to give him your best wishes and tell him we sent ya!

And to make your weekend extra special, be sure to play the Jessica Jones drinking game too, where you take a drink whenever she does, or when she swears. We dare you to complete your binge session sober.

So enjoy bingeing the The Defenders, and be sure to wait for the end credits scene. Let us know your initial reactions over Season 1 of Marvel's The Defenders below.
