Actor Paul Bettany has opened up about his role as the Vision in Marvel's upcoming Avengers: Age of Ultron, revealing a few intriguing tidbits.
Whilst promoting his newest sci-fi film Transcendence on Jimmy Kimmel Live, the 42-year-old British thespian teased his upcoming role in the Joss Whedon-directed superhero flick.
First off, Bettany confirmed that he will NOT have all of the abilities the Vision has in the comics (of which you can find a list here), teasing:
“Oh, I can do all sorts of things, but I’m not allowed to really talk about them and what we’re going to do because there might be a Marvel agent in the room that will actually wrestle me to the ground. And fire me!”
However, Bettany then proceeded to discuss playing J.A.R.V.I.S. versus playing a living, sentient robot (the Vision) who — again in the comics — *SPOILERS* enters into a long-term love affair with Scarlet Witch, played by the much younger Elizabeth Olsen in the upcoming Marvel flick. Basically, it’s unclear if they’ll even go there (but they might).
It’s believed that both Ultron (voiced and mo-capped by James Spader) and the Vision will have something to do with Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.)’s J.A.R.V.I.S.
Here’s what Bettany said:
"It’s very exciting for me, but everything is a double edged sword because I was playing J.A.R.V.I.S. for years. My job was, I would turn up in a recording studio for 45 minutes, do all my stuff. And then they’d give me a huge bag of cash, and then I’d go home! But it turns out they found me out, and now they actually want me to do something!"
