Halloween is a big time for treats, but it's also a time for some major trickery. Someone who profoundly understands this is Ellen DeGeneres, who scared the living beejeepers out of rapper/producer P. Diddy (Sean Combs) on her daily talk show, The Ellen Show.
"I heard you're scared of clowns," DeGeneres said to Diddy, broaching the subject of Halloween.
"No ... impossible," he said.
"Why is it impossible?" she asked.
"Because I'm a black man," Diddy responded, drawing laughter from the audience. "I have so many other things to be fearful of, a clown's not gonna scare me."
Then suddenly, without warning, a person dressed in a Pennywise costume from It: Chapter One jumped out of a box, causing Diddy to scream, swear, jump out of his chair, and do a little terrified dance.
Watch the hilarious prank ensue below:
Thankfully, there was no bad blood between Diddy and Ellen after the rapper had gotten over the initial coulrophobic shock.
"You know, I woke up this morning and I said, 'I want my life to be full of surprises. Ellen, I thank you," he said, before embracing her in a hug. After Ellen replayed his little dance, however, he added, "You really affected my street cred with that."
Pennywise the Dancing Clown, played by Bill Skarsgård, returns in It: Chapter Two next September, a film that will follow the grown up members of the Derry Losers Club as they attempt to defeat the evil entity known as "It" once a for all. The film has an all-star cast of James McAvoy (Bill Denbrough), Jessica Chastain (Beverly Marsh), Isaiah Mustafa (Mike Hanlon), and Bill Hader (Richie Tozier).
Directed by returning filmmaker Andy Muschietti, It: Chapter Two floats into theaters Sep. 6, 2019.
