Later this year, Marvel Studios will begin production on the most ambitious superhero epic ever to hit the big screen: Infinity War, the first film in a two-part Avengers story that will pit Earth's Mightiest Heroes against the Mad Titan Thanos (Josh Brolin). The films will be massive not just because of their cosmic scope, but because the cast will be absolutely gigantic, including everyone from Robert Downey Jr. to Zoe Saldana. Back at NYCC, we at Syfy Wire (we were called Blastr then) were told by Evangeline Lilly that the Wasp will play a role in the second Infinity War film. Now another big name seems to be joining in.
Variety reports that Game of Thrones star Peter Dinklage is in "early talks" to join Infinity War and its untitled sequel, which will be filmed back to back. No details about Dinklage's possible character have been revealed, but it's described as a key role, and something he was able to fit in now that Thrones has moved to a fall shooting schedule for its final seasons.
Since landing the role of Tyrion Lannister, Dinklage has been one of the show's mainstays and continues to garner acclaim and plenty of fan love. He remains the only actor (so far) to win an Emmy for his work on the show, and the success of the series has propelled him to other major franchises, like the X-Men films. Now it seems he's headed for one of the biggest franchises of all.
For the moment we have no idea how many more characters Marvel can fit into this thing, or which one Dinklage might play, so hit us with your best guesses in the comments!
Avengers: Infinity War hits theaters May 4, 2018.
BTW, here's Evangeline talking Wasp and Avengers: Infinity War.
