The original RoboCop, Peter Weller, has never been a very soft-spoken guy —and he's definitely not shy when it comes to the pending reboot of the film that made him Detroit's savior.

Weller was recently asked about the new Robocop, starring Joel Kinnaman (The Killing) in the title role, and he wished them the best of luck. But does he think they can beat the original?

Not likely, Weller says.

"They've been trying to make another Robocop for, I don't know man... 30 years? I don't know, can they throw a lot of CGI at it... but the morality that's endemic to the movie you just watched [the original Robocop], it's hard to replicate. Good luck to them ... they'll never do it."

The reboot is putting a solid cast together, with Samuel L. Jackson, Hugh Laurie and Gary Oldman already on tap. But it all comes down to the script.

Check out Weller's interview below. He touches on the reboot at about the 8:10 mark:

What do you think? Do you hold the original RoboCop in rarefied air?
