San Diego Comic-Con is a lot of amazing things, but it's not generally known as peaceful and quiet. The best bet for zen-seeking nerds is SDCC's annual Preview Night, when the con floor is at its most (relatively) tranquil and spacious, with room to step back and take selfies next to the ever-expanding brand activations and displays.

This year's convention may not have some of the traditional big names doing panels at Hall H — Star Wars, Marvel Studios, and HBO are sitting this one out — but those industry titans are still very present on the convention floor.

With Marvel Studios celebrating its tenth year as a movie-producing entity, the company busted out that original makeshift Iron Man armor from all the way back in 2008, while also putting the genocidal jewelry fiend Thanos front and center. Deadpool, hawking an uncut sequel Blu-ray, was also front and center. Lucasfilm had a few Solo displays, while Warner Bros.' DC Comics films grabbed much of the spotlight — who can say no to taking a photo with a life-sized Lego Aquaman in the original costume? (From what we saw, the answer is nobody.)

There was a whole lot more around the convention floor on Preview Night, so check out our gallery below for a sneak peek and keep coming back to SYFY WIRE for round-the-clock SDCC coverage!
