Day one is traditionally the slowest day at San Diego Comic-Con, but that still makes it one of the busiest and most crowded days on the yearly geek calendar. And because it's the one non-weekend day of the convention, it also has perhaps the most devoted group of fans — and that means a lot of great cosplay.
Right now, the geek world is dominated by Disney-owned properties, and that was reflected on the San Diego Convention Center floor and all around the adjacent Gaslamp District. There were great costumes that span the entire prism of nerd culture, but thanks to the sheer depth of Disney's holdings — which is only about to get bigger — the Mouse House made San Diego its second home. We saw a ton of Marvel (both comics and movies) and Star Wars characters, plus a few classics like the Little Mermaid and Mary Poppins, who will be rejoining the present-day Disney canon with a sequel starring Emily Blunt this winter.
Of course, it wasn't all Disney, as you can see in the photos below. No SDCC is complete without some Wonder Women, zombies, and Dragon Ball favorites!
