Everyone brings their best cosplay to San Diego Comic-Con, making for a four-day fever dream fantasy of genre favorites coming together under one roof, an IRL fan fiction made for Instagram. Even trippier is the annual Cosplay Masquerade, where the best of the best cosplayers trot out their most creative and well-constructed costumes.
Saturday night's event delivered on the Masquerade's promise, mixing remarkable craftsmanship and vivid imagination. The Ballroom was packed with audience members and journalists there to admire the dedication and talent of the cosplaying fans, while likely swiping some ideas for their own future costumes. Some intermission entertainment from Corps Dance Crew, a cosplaying hip hop dance group, added to the evening's festivities.
The big hits of the night included the Timelord of the Dance, a group costume that mashed up Doctor Who with Michael Flatley and a brave Imp Mercy from Overwatch, who was injured on stage but lifted by the room's cheers. Below, check out the winner's list and then admire photos of every single amazing costume!
