We don't know much about the new Pirates of the Caribbean. We know it centers around the Devil's Triangle and deals with the undead taking over the high seas. We know that Johnny Depp's Jack Sparrow is on the hunt for the legendary Trident of Poseidon. And we know Javier Bardem is playing the main barnacled baddie, Captain Salazar.
As with most of the PotC films, sometimes the actual plot drifts far out to sea and we're left with pure unadulterated spectacle, which isn't necessarily a bad thing.
Especially when the spectacle involves ZOMBIE SHARKS.
Besides the skeletal crews of bloodthirsty buccaneers, the sea creatures below the waves will also be afflicted by some sort of resurrection charm, as hinted in the trailer released during last month's Super Bowl. Here's a fantastic piece of concept art that beautifully displays the jaw-dropping ghost sharks waiting for a morsel of flesh, fresh or putrefying, to fall into their frightening mouths. Have a look and watch your fingers! They DO bite.
Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales opens on May 26.
