Pixar is the hit-making animated studio who brought us The Incredibles, Toy Story 3, Up and countless other excellent films. And the next Pixar film is … Coco. We have the teaser trailer for you below.
Coco is about a young boy who worships an oldie-timey actor and guitarist, and the flavor is distinctly Mexican. Wikipedia writes:
Despite his family's generation-old ban on music, Miguel (Anthony Gonzalez) dreams of becoming an accomplished musician like his idol Ernesto de la Cruz (Benjamin Bratt). Desperate to prove his talent, Miguel finds himself in the Land of the Dead. Along the way, he meets charming trickster Hector (Gael García Bernal) and together they set off on an extraordinary journey to unlock the real story behind Miguel's family history.
From what I see of Coco, it has all of the elements that makes a Pixar movie great. It's sweet but not cloying. It's visually appealing. And it captures awe and wonder. I can't wait to see it. (Sadly, I'll have to. The release date is November 22.)
