Politician campaigns for city council costumed as StarCraft marine

John Waite, who's running for the Spokane City Council, has spoken at both the Tea Party of Spokane's Tax Rally Day (which we're guessing won't win him many voters on the left) AND the local Spokane edition of Jon Stewart's Rally to Restore Sanity (which probably won't win him many voters on the right either).

But based on a recent campaign photo, that may be the least of his worries.

Waite, who owns the science fiction shop Merlyn's, which we see took part in Free Comic Book Day, was snapped the other day campaigning out in front of his store dressed as a StarCraft marine.

Now we have no idea what kind of city councilman this guy would make, but we kinda worry that there's so much geek prejudice at the polls that this pic will count against him far more than any political stance.

What do you think? Will voters look past the costume to even take a look at where Waite stands on the issues?
