Looks like Natalie Portman, the mom of everyone's favorite midi-chlorian-juiced twins, will star and produce in the not-quite-ready-for-Masterpiece Theater adaptation of Seth Grahame-Smith's ... ahem! ... "embellishment" of Jane Austen, Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, which took the liberty of tossing flesh-eating ghouls into Austen's classic tale of social mores and misunderstandings.

Portman will be teaming up with Donnie Darko director Richard Kelly to produce, according to Variety. As was mentioned here on SCI FI Wire a few weeks ago, earlier rumors about a six-part miniseries adaptation of Pride and Prejudice and Zombies proved to be untrue. But as is the case with any hot property, news and rumors of adaptations just won't stay dead.

In an obvious bit of casting, the elegant and waifish Portman will of course be playing the iconic heroine Elizabeth Bennet.

But who could play the dashing, charming and perhaps arrogant Mr. Darcy? Our vote is for the great Howard Sherman, who played the lovable and multilayered Bub the Zombie in George Romero's Day of the Dead. Who do you think should get the meaty role?
