A new promo for Seth MacFarlane and Jon Favreau’s space-set comedy-drama The Orville has landed, and we learn a whole lot about the series’ single-sex (of the male variety) alien species, the Moclans.

The sneak peek of the one-hour series, debuting on Fox in early September, sees MacFarlane’s recently divorced Planetary Union officer Capt. Ed Mercer having a somewhat uncomfortable discussion with Lt. Commander Bortus (Peter Macon), who reveals the Moclans only need to urinate once a year. That’s a nifty skill to have, especially when you’re stuck in traffic.

Here’s a description of the series, set a couple of centuries into the future:

The Orville is a one-hour science fiction series set 400 years in the future that follows the adventures of the U.S.S. Orville, a mid-level exploratory vessel. Its crew, both human and alien, faces the wonders and dangers of outer space, while also dealing with the familiar, often humorous problems of regular people in a workplace…even though some of those people are from other planets, and the workplace is a faster-than-light spaceship. In the 25th century, Earth is part of the Planetary Union, a far-reaching, advanced and mostly peaceful civilization with a fleet of 3,000 ships.

Along with Peter Macon’s Lt. Commander Bortus, MacFarlane’s Capt. Mercer is joined by his ex-wife Kelly Grayson (Adrianne Palicki), who ends up being assigned as first officer, his BFF and the best helmsman in the fleet (who also has a problem with authority) Gordon Malloy (Scott Grimes), Dr. Claire Finn (Penny Johnson Jerald), artificial lifeform Isaac (Mark Jackson), navigator John Lamarr (J. Lee), young and inexperienced security officer Alara Kitan (Halston Sage) and Yaphit, a “gelatinous creature” voiced by comedian Norm Macdonald.

The Orville will premiere on Sept. 10 on Fox.
