Don’t stand too close to these two MCU blabbermouths if you want to have a pristine viewing experience walking into that new movie you’re dying to see. Apparently Chris Pratt and Tom Holland really, really suck at holding themselves back from spoiling the plots of movies — and not necessarily their own movies — to anyone who gets too close.
Pratt joked recently that he basically punked his Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom co-star Bryce Dallas Howard by revealing the ending of the current epic MCU Avengers saga — including how next year’s Avengers 4, and Star-Lord’s ultimate fate within it — will play out.
“She knows the whole thing,” a giddily unapologetic Pratt joked in a recent SiriusXM interview for Entertainment Weekly, sounding totally like a guy who wishes he could just spill it all to the whole world.
“When I sign a non-disclosure agreement, at the bottom in parenthesis I say, ‘except for Bryce,’” he teased, with Howard nodding her agreement beside him. “You guys don’t even know what I know… but you’ll know pretty soon.”
But Pratt’s MCU partner in spoiler crime, Tom Holland, may already be operating at the grandmaster level with the trick he pulled on Pratt himself. In the same interview, Pratt revealed that reprising his role as raptor trainer Owen Grady for Fallen Kingdom wasn’t enough to beat Holland's tingly Spidey senses to the punch, not when it came to learning the full plot for his own movie.
“Tom, of course, knows [Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom director] J.A. Bayona because of the film The Impossible — Tom was the young guy in that movie,” Pratt said (via EW). “He told me the whole story, so I heard it right from Tom Holland first. And then when I read the script, I was like, ‘Yeah, he wasn’t messing with me, this is all real.’”
At least Fallen Kingdom is playing in theaters now, so dodging these guys’ spoiler darts for that movie shouldn’t be too hard. But we’ve still got a long, long wait between now and the release of the still-untitled Avengers 4, the movie itch that Pratt’s spoiler tendencies are just aching to scratch. The final chapter in the current Avengers cycle is slated for a May 3, 2019 release. Which one of these guys do you think will spoil it first?
