While AMC's Preacher tends to have a pretty ambitious scope, taking place in the farthest reaches of the globe to the lowest depths of Hell, the main story tends to bounce back and forth between Texas and Louisiana. Now, it looks like all that's about to change.
According to TV Line, the Vertigo Comics adaptation was just renewed for a fourth season, with production set to begin early next year in Australia. Does that mean Jesse Custer (Dominic Cooper), Tulip (Ruth Negga), and Cassidy (Joe Gilgun) may be continuing their search for the aloof, almighty God down under?
It's hard to say exactly what's in store, given how much EPs Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg have reworked the source material — even though it has veered closer to the comics as of late. However, based on the events of August's Season 3 finale, the show made a pretty big play that could be setting up its final run of episodes. After obsessively chasing down Jesse for the better part of the show's run, the Saint of Killers (Graham McTavish) shoots Satan (Jason Douglas) himself, only so he and Jesse can form an alliance and work together to find God.
Then, instead of hell being left without a benevolent ruler, as it happens in the comics, Adolph Hitler (Noah Taylor) uses the opportunity to take his place on his throne. Quite the upgrade from planning a fascist uprising while working in a diner under an alias on Earth.
There's no word on an official premiere date yet, though the first three seasons have all premiered in the early summer. Are you stoked to see Preacher back for another season on AMC? Let us know in the comments.
