First days at work are tough no matter where your new job is, but your first day working at a creepy, outdated psychiatric hospital? That’s the stuff of nightmares.

That’s also the setup for the first issue of The Unsound, a brand-new horror comic by veteran horror writer Cullen Bunn (The Sixth Gun, Harrow County) and amazing new artist Jack T. Cole, out Wednesday, June 7, from BOOM! Studios. First announced back in March, The Unsound is an eerie and beautifully drawn comic, and we have a look at both covers—one by Cole, and a variant by David Lafuente—and a five-page preview that’s certain to give you chills.

The comic stars Ashli Granger, a young woman who is beginning work as a nurse at Saint Cascia Psychiatric Hospital, and as seen in the preview, things get strange very quickly. This is only the beginning, though, as the series promises to unveil a “hellish world populated by lunatics and monsters, cloaked in a secret history of black magic and heinous scientific experiments.”

So if you like the sound of that and like what you see in the preview, be sure to pick up the fantastically freaky first issue of The Unsound this Wednesday … if you dare.
