If you have even a casual interest in all things related to unidentified flying objects (UFOs) and related unexplained phenomena, then you are our kind of people!

HISTORY's brand-new scripted series, Project Blue Book, is based on the real-life, top-secret United States Air Force investigations conducted from 1952 to 1969. During that period, 12,618 UFO reports were conducted so they could be officially investigated and debunked. One of the experts brought into the team was Dr. J. Allen Hynek, an astronomer and professor, who came to be a believer by the end of his tenure with the Air Force.

In the series, Hynek is played by Aidan Gillen (Game of Thrones), and he's paired together with Captain Michael Quinn (Michael MalarkeyThe Vampire Diaries) to start investigating the bizarre and improbable, starting with the infamous Fuller Dogfight case, otherwise known in history as the Gorman UFO Dogfight.

In our inaugural Project Blue Book: The Official Podcast episode for the series, SYFY WIRE's senior producer, Tara Bennett, welcomes Project Blue Book creator and executive producer David O' Leary and showrunner and executive producer Sean Jablonski into the studio to talk about what specifically inspired O'Leary to frame a series around Hynek's role in the secret endeavor, how the pair came to work together, and how they picked the first real cases to fictionalize.
