The first full trailer for Daredevil’s second season has finally arrived, and we finally get a look at how The Punisher fits into the world of Hell’s Kitchen. Oh, and our first look at Elektra.

The trailer, and likely the season, uses Jon Bernthal’s Punisher as a narrative force that seemingly pulls Daredevil back into the fray to face this new threat. This interpretation also seems very, very close to what comic readers would expect. Bernthal comes off as a ruthless force of nature, tracking entire gangs down and wiping them out in a hail of gunfire and blood. His origin also seems to be, at least, tangentially tied to Daredevil.

Hey, if this guy can dress up in a red suit and beat up bad guys — why can’t Punisher mow them down with a machine gun? This season looks like it’ll be digging into the interesting questions about vigilantism and where the line is drawn between justice and murder. Oh, and Elektra shows up oh-so-briefly!

Here’s the official synopsis for the season:

Just when Matt thinks he is bringing order back to the city, new forces are rising in Hell’s Kitchen. Now the Man Without Fear must take on a new adversary in Frank Castle and face an old flame – Elektra Natchios. Bigger problems emerge when Frank Castle, a man looking for vengeance, is reborn as The Punisher, a man who takes justice into his own hands in Matt’s neighborhood. Meanwhile, Matt must balance his duty to his community as a lawyer and his dangerous life as the Devil of Hell’s Kitchen, facing a life-altering choice that forces him to truly understand what it means to be a hero.
