The first tantalizing pic of actress Alice Eve from the upcoming Star Trek sequel set—in costume, no less—is making the rounds online and the Internet's been abuzz as to which character the gorgeous blonde is playing.

The pic was first put up on the Facebook page of That's Sweet Dessert Truck on May 8th with the mention "Our private event today with the cast and crew of the new Star Trek movie!!! Thank you JJ. Yes that is Spock!!!"

In the pic, eagle-eyed readers will notice that both Alice Eve and Zachary Quinto (who plays green-blooded Vulcan Mr. Spock) are wearing similar jumpsuit uniforms. So we can assume that Alice Eve is probably playing a Starfleet member. (But then again, we could be completely wrong, too).

She's also probably playing a human; or if she's an alien, she's a very human-like alien. She could also be playing one of Khan's (Benedict Cumberbatch) augments. (Just throwing that one out there, guys.)

But ever since we heard Eve was transporting on board J.J. Abrams' upcoming Star Trek sequel, rumors have been rife that the actress could be playing a number of canon characters: Yeoman Janice Rand, Nurse Christine Chapel, Lt. Marla Givers (who happened to be Khan's Starfleet lover in TOS episode "Space Seeds" and who was only mentioned in Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan, because she was, you know, dead, which was the cause of that whole Khan's wrath thing), Dr. Elizabeth Dehner, and Dr. Carol Marcus (Captain James T. Kirk's ex-love and mother of his son David) were the names most bandied about. All of them, except Marcus, were Starfleet members.

But this IS an alternate timeline now, right? So anything is possible.

However, reports are that Eve is playing a character that's new to the canon, but our colleagues over at TrekMovie have been unable as of yet to confirm or debunk those reports.

What do you guys think of the pic? Which character do you think Alice Eve is most playing on the upcoming Star Trek sequel?
