Qapla'! A Klingon general you may recognize just won a NY election

When human politicians can't get it done, it's time to call in the Klingons.

John Hertzler might not be a name that's instantly recognizable to every Joe on the street, but to Trek fans, the man is legendary. He's played Vulcans and Hirogen Hunters (which we won't hold against him), but he's best known for playing the bombastic Klingon general Martok on Star Trek: Deep Space Nine.

Well, now the former thespian can add a new credit to his name -- town board member. Hertzler, who is currently an adjunct professor of film at Cornell, was elected for a two-year period to the Ulysses Town Board this Tuesday.

We're going to assume he's probably less bloodthirsty than the character he's best known for playing, but that doesn't mean we can't still celebrate with a good, old-fashioned Klingon war song, right?

Well done, Mr. Hertzler. You bring honor to the House of Martok this day.
