The fantastical halls of Brakebills College for Magical Pedagogy and the perilous kingdom of Fillory are alive and well in SYFY's hit supernatural series The Magicians — and now it's coming to the comic page, as well. Even better? We have an exclusive first look.

Acting as sister products to the show's upcoming chapters and providing a richer backstory for popular main characters like Alice Quinn (played by Olivia Dudley), Boom! Studios has secured the comic book and graphic novel publishing rights to The Magicians and is poised to provide faithful fans with a series of intriguing tie-in projects to deepen the show's mythology.

The first project to manifest itself in this mesmerizing partnership will be an original graphic novel released this summer titled The Magicians: Alice's Story, and SYFY WIRE has an exclusive peek into its spellbinding pages.

Written by Lilah Sturges (Lumberjanes: The Infernal Compass, Jack of Fables) and matched with interior art by Pius Bak (Night Owl Society), this premium hardcover will unspool inside the weird worlds of Grossman's acclaimed fantasy novels and spotlights a brilliant cover by Steve Morris (Buffy The Vampire Slayer).

The plotline originates from Alice's perspective prior to enrolling in the otherworldly curriculum of Brakebills College and centers around her explorations and discoveries in Fillory. Readers will glean arcane secrets of Alice’s remarkable journey and be gifted with answers to their long-held suspicions and beliefs about her mysterious past.

"I wanted to find a fresh approach to the story of The Magicians, rather than simply translate it to comics. And as I was re-reading the book, I kept coming back to Alice, and how she can be seen as a protagonist of the story in her own right," Sturges tells SYFY WIRE. "It was such a thrill to go back and reevaluate the story from her perspective, to try to figure out what she's thinking and feeling as the narrative progresses. I hope fans of the book will find that take as compelling as I did, and that people who've never read the book can get the feel of the book while still reading something that works on its own as a graphic novel."

The Magicians Season 4 will premiere Wednesday, January 23, at 9/8c on SYFY.
