Up in the air! It's a bird! It's a plane! It's ... oh, never mind, he's leaving.

We're fans of local heroes putting on costumes and issuing a little vigilante justice from time to time. So long as they aren't getting in the way of the actual police force, there's nothing cooler than someone taking matters into their own hands whilst in a flashy outfit.

Manchester resident Roger Hayhurst was the real McCoy. He plunked down the money for the costume, he put the thing on, he roamed the streets. Heck, he even had his fiancee team up with him. Together they were Knight Warrior and Knight Maiden!

All right, the names could do with a bit of work. Still, that's pretty cool, and people apparently knew who he was. That, unfortunately, became a bit of a problem. Apparently Hayhurst and his fiancee were recognized by some less-than-friendly fellows, who beat Hayhurst up! That, sadly, meant that enough was enough.

My face was all swollen. After that I still dress up and occasionally patrol, but I mainly dress up for charity appearances.

His fiancee, Rebecca Wall, hung up the proverbial spurs as well.  We can only hope that, should a cry go out unanswered in the night, the Knight Warrior will ride again!
