This week has been all about the political news, InSight landing on Mars and Cyber Monday. Maybe you’ve been shopping for all the things in your jammies rather than braving the stores. They were certainly empty this week. Maybe you’ve been glued to the cable news channels to learn about who lied to whom about what. Maybe you’re just busy recovering from all that turkey and stuffing and pie from the holiday weekend and trying to figure out how to beat your food record at parties this month. You might not have gotten a chance to sit down and do some game playing, or to get caught up on the video game news of the week. Fear not, gamer friends! We’ve got you covered.

From the Red Dead Redemption 2 online beta launching this week to a whole lot of released gameplay from Just Cause 4, here is all the Gamegrrl news for the week ending December 1.

This week Ubisoft announced release dates for Assassin’s Creed Odyssey “Legacy of the First Blade,” which is the first story arc after the launch of the game. It will be released on December 4 on all platforms. The first chapter is called “Hunted” and players will work to find Darius, the legendary warrior who was the first one to use the Assassin’s Hidden Blade. Two chapters will follow.

Here is some info on Assassin’s Creed Odyssey: “Embark on your journey from humble beginnings to living legend as Alexios or Kassandra. Customize your gear, upgrade your abilities, and personalize your ship on your path to becoming a Spartan hero. From the heights of snowy mountain peaks to the depths of the Aegean Sea, explore an entire country full of untamed environments and cities at the peak of Greece’s Golden Age. Unexpected encounters will breathe life into your story as you meet colorful characters, battle vicious mercenaries, and more.”

This week we got a look at the live action and action movie mix trailers for the upcoming game Just Cause 4, which we recently previewed. The live action trailer is above and shows this: “After their latest humiliating defeat, a squad of wounded Black Hand soldiers attempts to explain to their leader, Gabriela Morales, how they managed to get beaten by just one man; the leader of The Army of Chaos, Rico Rodriguez.”

The action movie trailer spoofs action movies featuring our hero Rico and it’s pretty awesome. The one above is the 1960s trailer. Here are the links to: 1970s, 1980s, 1990s and 2000s.

Just Cause 4 combines everything we love about legendary action movies: Extreme stunts, over-the-top action, and all presented with larger-than-life style & attitude in the form of Rico Rodriguez. As an homage to action films and heroes of decades past, we've created a collection of stylized movie-trailer videos and posters, inspired by classic films by era. Can you spot the movie references?

Even more goodies from Just Cause 4 this week! We also got 18 minutes of gameplay so you can see the physics sandbox this game is. You know we’re going to want to see what you can do when the game is released.

Just Cause 4 is available December 4, 2018 on PS4, Xbox One and PC Steam.

We also got a new trailer for Darksiders III featuring Fury. The game is out right now. Check out the info below.

Players return to an apocalyptic planet Earth in Darksiders III, a hack-n-slash action-adventure where players take on the role of Fury in her quest to hunt down and dispose of the Seven Deadly Sins. The Charred Council calls upon Fury to battle from the heights of heaven down through the depths of hell in a quest to restore the balance between good and evil and prove that she is the fiercest of the Four Horsemen.

Fury is a mage, her form evolving throughout gameplay and with it, her powers and weaponry. The expansive Darksiders III game world is presented as an open-ended, living, free-form planet Earth, dilapidated by war and decay, and overrun by nature. Fury will traverse back and forth between environments, battling other-worldly creatures and unlocking puzzles while advancing the Darksiders story.
