The phrase "there can be only one" doesn't only apply to just Highlander anymore.
In a new trailer for DC and Warner Animation's Reign of the Supermen, you'll be seeing double (and even triple!) as a number of Man of Steel-esque heroes make themselves known after Superman's deadly battle with the Kryptonian alien known as Doomsday.
A sequel to the summer's Death of Superman, Reign brings back the all-star voice cast of Jerry O'Connell (Superman), Rebecca Romijn (Lois Lane), Nathan Fillion (Green Lantern), Rainn Wilson (Lex Luthor), Patrick Fabian (Hank Hensaw), and more.
Check out the trailer below:
The film's title is a reference to the final story arc in "The Death of Superman" comic from the early 1990s. In it, four individuals — with different powers and identities — claiming to be a revived Superman arrive on the scene.
These characters include Superboy (voiced by Gotham's Cameron Monaghan in the movie) and Henry Irons (Black Lightning's Cress Williams), the latter a devoted fan of Superman who creates a metal suit based on the hero, with the intention of carrying on his noble work. Irons made an appearance in The Death of Superman and received an overwhelmingly positive reaction from the audience at the San Diego Comic-Con world premiere when it became apparent he was building his "Man of Steel" (literally) costume in one of the post-credits moments.
Directed by Sam Liu, Reign of the Supermen arrives on digital and Blu-ray sometime in 2019. No specific release date has been announced yet.
