Remember Cartoon Network's Beware the Batman series? We finally know its fate

A quirky new Batman series debuted recently on Cartoon Network, then essentially dropped off the face of the earth. The format was a little strange, but it brought out some of DC’s weirder rogues gallery members, and was a breath of fresh air for some fans. Well, we have some good news and some bad news.

The good news: Beware the Batman is finally coming back to the airwaves, so fans of the CGI-style Bat-series will get a chance to see how the season ends.

The bad news: It’ll now be airing on Adult Swim’s Toonami programming block in the 3 a.m. slot, beginning on May 10 at 3 AM ET/PT. Yep, you read that right: 3 a.m. By dumping the series in such a late time period, it seems a foregone conclusion that this will be the show’s one and only season.

Beware has been off the air since October 2013, when it essentially just disappeared — which is strange, since it was one half of the network’s DC Nation one-hour programming block. Now, it looks like the network is planning to quietly burn it off and hope everyone forgets it existed.

Sure, Beware the Batman wasn’t fantastic (nor were the ratings), but it was a unique take on the universe. It’ll be missed. But if the network is looking for a replacement, might we recommend something related to that awesome Batman Beyond short that recently debuted? Please?
