We feel we sadly didn't get to see enough of actress Rene Russo as Frigga—Odin's (Anthony Hopkins) wife and Thor (Chris Hemsworth) and Loki's (Tom Hiddleston) mum—in Thor. But that may be about to change for Thor 2: The Dark World.
"You know, they cut me [down] in the first film," the actress told Vulture:
But I think they're going to need a good mom in the next film. Loki needs his mom. What the hell? I have a lot of compassion for him. But we might have to have a conversation about what he just did, Russo laughed. And I might have to have a chat with Thor. But I am so confused — is Thor my son or not? People have been telling me recently, 'No, you're not his mother.' It's all so confusing! I got to tell ya, it would be a little embarrassing if I don't know. I need to read more about her.
For those who don't know this (*SPOILERS*), Frigga is indeed only Thor's stepmother and Loki's foster mother. However, she is the biological mother of Balder, another Asgardian god.
According to Bleeding Cool, the female characters will be at the heart of the drama—or at least closer to it—in the Thor sequel.
Should be fun! We can just imagine the family dinners. What do you guys think?
Directed by Game of Thrones' Alan Taylor, Thor: The Dark World is set to hit theaters on Nov. 8, 2013.
