With so much love flowing in both directions between Kevin Smith and the crew of The Flash, it probably shouldn’t be surprising that Smith reportedly is recruiting some of The CW show’s stars for some face time in a long-awaited project of his own.
Multiple sources at Smith’s annual Q&A panel Saturday reported that Smith revealed he’s gotten The Flash himself (Grant Gustin), along with Tom Cavanagh (Harrison Wells) and Carlos Valdes (Vibe), to agree to some onscreen face time in Smith’s upcoming Jay and Silent Bob reboot, which in fact may end up being titled Jay and Silent Bob Reboot.
Smith didn’t say how he and Jason Mewes (Silent Bob’s Jay) plan to use the talents of Smith’s Arrowverse pals. Smith said last November in a Facebook update that he was aiming for some fun cameos for Reboot, which he described as “a fun flick in which the Jersey boys have to go back to Hollywood to stop a brand new reboot of the old ‘Bluntman & Chronic Movie’ they hated so much,” and a “silly-ass satire that pokes fun at the movie business's recent re-do obsession.”
Fans know Smith is well connected with The CW’s superheroes, having directed three Flash episodes as well as a trio of episodes of Supergirl. Smith and Mewes also guest-starred on fourth-season “Null and Annoyed” episode of The Flash back in April.
For their part, Gustin, Cavanagh, and Valdes were on hand with the rest of The Flash’s cast at the show’s SCDD panel Saturday, talking the show’s upcoming fifth season ahead of its premiere this fall.
