The first trailer for The Walking Dead's eighth season has arrived thanks to San Diego Comic-Con, and it did not dissapoint. Seriously ... what was up with that final shot?!
The trailer looks to be setting the stage for "All Out War," the famed comic arc that finds Alexandria, the Hilltop and the Kingdom teaming up to take on Negan and the Saviors. We see all the various factions arming up, and a whole lot of bombs (including an awesome shot of Daryl blowing one up while riding away on his motorcycle, in a classic action movie move).
Spoilers ahead for The Walking Dead comics!
But the real shock was that final scene, which looked to feature an older version of Rick Grimes, complete with a thick gray beard. The shot opens on Rick's cane, which comic readers will note is something Old Man Rick uses in the wake of a time jump that takes place after "All Out War" in the comics. Is the show teasing that it'll also feature a time jump after the war, hopping ahead a couple of years, to a point where all these communities are working together? We don't know, but it certainly looks that way.
The Walking Dead is back October 22 on AMC.
