Filming on director Patty Jenkins’ Wonder Woman is now in full swing in Italy and some revealing pics from the set of the Warner Bros. movie have made their way online.
We know from a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly that the movie production has been using exotic islands off the coasts of Italy (as well as southern China) to “enhance the otherworldliness of scenes filmed on Italy’s Amalfi Coast” in order to create the Island of Themyscira.
Stars Gal Gadot and Chris Pine have been spotted filming what looks to be Steve Trevor landing on the shores of Paradise Island and meeting Princess Diana for the first time — an iconic scene straight from the Wonder Woman comics. But whereas the storyline took place during World War II in the pages of the comic book, Diana's meeting with Steve will take place during the First World War in the movie.
Other set pics sees a group of World War I soldiers taking aim at a group of Amazons riding on horseback. Also, there is Diana’s aunt General Antiope (Robin Wright).
Also starring in the movie are Danny Huston, David Thewlis, Ewen Bremner, Saïd Taghmaoui, Elena Anaya, Lucy Davis, Lisa Loven Kongsli, and Connie Nielsen as Queen Hippolyta.
Wonder Woman will open in theaters on June 2, 2017.
