TNT found a good bit of success in the sci-fi genre with Falling Skies, and now the network is going all-in with Ridley Scott to develop a whole lot more.

Deadline reports the network has teamed up with Scott (Alien: Covenant) to develop a new night of original sci-fi programming, which will encompass typical hour-long shows, as well as short form programming, all made under Scott’s watchful eye.

“Being given the creative license to generate and develop science fiction programming in a variety of formats for TNT is very exciting,” Scott said in a statement. “This genre is one of my favorites, and there are an infinite amount of original and innovative story ideas out there that we are looking forward to exploring with TNT. It is very exciting for all of us.”

The network’s EVP of original programming, Sarah Aubrey, said the network hopes to create shows that are “imaginative,” “awe-inspiring,” “smart” and “sophisticated.” The reviews for Alien: Covenant are looking fairly solid, so here’s hoping Scott has a few more great ideas left in the tank. It also sounds like they’ll be shaking things up with the approach, and with a full block of programming, here’s hoping he can do something interesting things.

Would you tune in for a night of Ridley Scott? What kind of shows would you like to see?
