With one big-budget Halo series already in the works from Steven Spielberg, Microsoft’s Xbox Live platform is prepping another project based on the hit videogame franchise.
Variety is reporting that Microsoft’s content development folks have teamed with 343 Entertainment and Scott Free TV for a separate, more “modestly budgeted” iteration more akin to the popular web short series Halo: Forward Unto Dawn. Big-budget projects, along with small-budget shows, i.e.: scale. Obviously, not a bad approach.
The original Forward Unto Dawn marked one of the company’s first forays into original video content, and it makes sense the company would want to give it another go. The project will be executive-produced by Ridley Scott and Scott Free TV president David Zucker, with Battlestar Galactica alum Sergio Mimica-Gezzan directing.
Considering Halo is arguably the brightest feather in Microsoft’s cap, it’s hard to blame them for doubling down on the franchise when it comes to the company’s burgeoning video operation. Are you glad to hear there'll be even more Halo on the way?
