Riverdale has cast Veronica’s dad for Season 2. And he's definitely a hottie.

According to TV Line, Mark Consuelos (My Super Ex-Girlfriend, Pitch, Queen of the South) has joined the cast of the CW’s Archie Comics-inspired series as Hiram Lodge.

Which means that the often-mentioned but never-before-seen Lodge paterfamilias won’t stay in jail for long (he’s sitting there, awaiting trial thanks to some embezzlement charges because *spoiler alert*: THE BLOSSOMS), and that he will be making his way to Riverdale for the show’s sophomore season as a new series regular.

Hiram Lodge is officially described as “a ruthless, handsome, charismatic businessman who is coming back to Riverdale after weathering a financial scandal that almost destroyed him. He is there to reconnect with his wife Hermione and, especially, his daughter Veronica, who is the apple of his eye.”

As if Veronica (Camila Mendes) and Hermione’s (Marisol Nichols) lives weren’t complicated enough! Le sigh. But I have to admit I’m really looking forward to finally seeing Hiram Lodge on the show. Especially since they talk about the guy almost every episode.

However, there’s apparently a bit of a catch. Consuelos is currently co-starring on Pitch and he could have to drop Riverdale if Fox’s baseball drama series gets renewed so… guess we’ll have to wait and see if the casting sticks. What do you think of Mark Consuelos playing Hiram Lodge on Riverdale?
