The first trailer for Season 2 of Archie Comics-inspired Riverdale just played at the end of the show's panel at San Diego Comic-Con, and now we have a look at the new footage right here.

The trailer picks up directly where Season 1 left off, with the shocking shooting of Archie's dad, Fred Andrews, in Pop's. Archie drags Fred into the hospital, where all his friends come to support him -- and Archie hides something about the shooter. Oh boy, the secrets start already, huh?

Pop Tate says the hooded man was "like the Angel of Death," so that's not ominous at all. The trailer ends with Cheryl talking to her bandaged-up mother, sounding nice but terrifying at the same time, so typical Cheryl.

Riverdale took the world by surprise with its dark murder-mystery storyline in Season 1, and it doesn't look to be softening that up or slowing it down at all this year. The second season of the series debuts October 11, 2017, with more secrets, mysteries, and drama for Archie and the gang.
