There wasn't a dry eye in the MCU on Thursday when Chris Evans, Marvel's Captain America since 2011, sent a message of seemingly certain goodbye to his fans as he wrapped up his last day of reshoots on the as-yet-untitled Avengers 4. "Officially wrapped on Avengers 4," tweeted Evans. "It was an emotional day to say the least..."
Emotional for more than just Evans! Fans across the fan-o-sphere weighed in with their own stories of how Evans' Steve Rogers had inspired them, made them fall in love with the character, and given them a hero to grow up alongside.
It wasn't just fans chiming, but also fellow heroes. Deadpool's Ryan Reynolds claimed to be weeping. Not crying, mind you, weeping. And today, the earthly manifestation of Cap's main Avengers frenemy, Robert Downey Jr., has weighed in as well.
In classic Tony Stark style, RDJ did so with a wink and a nod to his old pal...
No word yet on whether Toy Story holds some special import for the two actors, though we'd love to imagine all the Avengers gathering for Netflix and chill nights after their reshoots, maybe screening Toy Story, why not? Especially when contemplating the fact that nothing will be the same casting-wise and MCU-wise after Avengers 4 debuts May 3, 2019.
The more interplay among them we can enjoy while they're still in the suits, the better. Right?
