Isn’t it great when a plan comes together? Two of the greatest personalities in comics decided to put together their own little crossover, and a few quick tweets later, the deal was done.

Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman and Brian K. Vaughan (Saga) have released a new video interview talking up the Walking Dead one-shot comic The Alien, written by Vaughan and published at his online store Panel Syndicate. In exchange for the keys to the Dead kingdom, Vaughan agreed to let Kirkman’s Skybound imprint publish a hardcover edition of Vaughan’s online comic The Private Eye. So, basically, everybody wins.

Vaughan’s Walking Dead comic is set in Barcelona and follows a character who might turn out to have a connection to a main player in the Walking Dead universe. The issue is available right now at Panel Syndicate. Check out an excerpt from Vaughan’s comments below:

“This issue of The Walking Dead is set in Barcelona, which we did because that’s where (collaborator) Marcos is from, he knows it well. But, also because I don’t think I’d ever seen a Walking Dead comic set outside the United States… I wanted to do an issue that mattered, but you didn’t need to read it. If you just want to read Robert and Charlie’s Walking Dead, you won’t be missing out on anything. But, if you do read this, you're going to get something extra. Something that counts.”
