Marvel Studios is bringing out the big guns for Captain America: The Winter Soldier. The film just got a serious boost in prestige thanks to the addition of Robert Redford. That's right, the Sundance Kid himself is in talks to join the cast.

The actors' character is described as having "a senior leadership role in S.H.I.E.L.D." In other words, he'd be in the same league as Samuel L. Jackson's Nick Fury. Heck, he could be even higher. Marvel's no stranger to hiring high-caliber actors for their films. Just look at what they did with Anthony Hopkins in Thor or Jeff Bridges in the original Iron Man.

Redford seems like a different kind of animal. His career spans over 50 years and includes such films as The Sting, The Great Gatsby, All the Presidents' Men, Out of Africa and of course Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid.

Captain America: The Winter Soldier is directed by Joe and Anthony Russo and will once again star Chris Evans as the patriotic hero. The film hits theaters April 4, 2014.

What role do you think Redford will play?
