Robert Pattinson, a more influential sci-fi figure than James Cameron, J.J. Abrams or the creators of Lost? According to a Time magazine poll to determine the 100 most influential people in the world—yes! But we guess they shouldn't feel so bad, because as of this morning, Pattinson's ahead of not just those sci-fi icons, but Barack Obama, Sarah Palin and Oprah Winfrey as well.

You can take a look at Time's complete list of 200 possible candidates here, which includes other sci-fi personalities such as Neil Gaiman, Emma Watson and "the Penny Arcade guys," and check out the current top 25 below.

The results of online polls aren't always ... how shall we we put it ... trustworthy, and are known to be won by those with the most vocal fandoms, so if you're not happy with the tally so far—which when finalized will be locked down in a future issue of Time—you'd better run over and cast your vote.

If on the other hand you have no problem with the results so far, then we guess you'd better hurry over and enter the contest to win a life-sized chocolate Robert Pattinson before it's too late!
