Lucasfilm has unleashed three new clips ahead of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story’s hotly anticipated premiere this Friday.
The first clip, titled “Call Sign", Riz Ahmed’s Bodhi Rook comes up with the (ahem) call sign Rogue One as he, Jyn Erso (Felicity Jones) and K-2SO (Alan Tudyk) — who is piloting the ship — proceed to slip away in possession of an impounded Imperial ship. In “Chance of Failure,” Cassian Andor (Diego Luna) is sitting in the co-pilot's chair while K-2SO keeps informing the crew of their slim chances of making it to a base whilst flying through some rocky formations. But they'll make it, right? RIGHT?!
In the third and last clip, called “Jyn Is Rescued,” Rebels storm in to rescue Jyn from stormtroopers. She then tries to escape her would-be rescuers until she gets stopped dead in her tracks by the reprogrammed Imperial Android. “Congratulations. You are being rescued. Please do not resist.” Guys, seriously, K-2SO is awesome. Check it out:
One thing for sure, there’s A LOT of Alan Tudyk’s droid K-2SO in those three clips, which makes me think he’ll have a big role to play in the movie. After all, I’m sure using a reprogrammed Imperial droid to pull off the dangerous mission of stealing the plans to the Death Star will give our band of Rebels some important advantages, like, say, getting the codes needed to infiltrate the Death Star (or whatever facility those plans are stored in).
Directed by Gareth Edwards (with reshoots by Tony Gilroy), the movie stars Felicity Jones, Diego Luna, Ben Mendelsohn, Donnie Yen, Mads Mikkelsen, Alan Tudyk, Riz Ahmed, Jiang Wen, Forest Whitaker and James Earl Jones. Rogue One: A Star Wars Story will open on Dec. 16.
