A few days ago, Ron Perlman shared some cool details regarding the Hellboy 3 storyline, and his comments got him a flurry of strong fan support for the movie on Twitter and Facebook.

In a fresh new interview with Variety, while the actor was busy serving as president of the 55th edition of the Monte Carlo TV festival and prexy of the miniseries jury, Perlman said that even though discussions about the movie have moved beyond his control, he thinks the fans are owed a resolution to the trilogy:

"The discussion has now overtaken me rather than me overtaking the discussion. And here I am in Monte Carlo, working on my suntan, and people are still asking me about “Hellboy III,” so I guess it’s still news. But I’ll tell you the same thing I’ve been telling everyone else, the Hellboy saga was meant to have a beginning, a middle and an end... we owe you a resolve. And there will come a time where he will have to live up to his destiny, which is to be the beast of the apocalypse, or if he has to suppress that destiny by sacrificing himself in some way so as to not destroy mankind but do the opposite. And that’s the discussion of the third film; I think it’s a discussion worth having, and I think it’s something we owe the fans."

Perlman also said he hasn’t spoken to Hellboy director Guillermo del Toro "since [he] started this latest round of insanity," but he did give a few details about del Toro’s plans for the third entry in the beloved franchise, saying:

"It’s in Guillermo’s head. And he’s shared enough of it with me to know that it will be mind-blowing. I mean it will be mind-blowing. It will be great cinema. And if you are somebody who followed the first two movies, it will be even more mind-blowing because we have something… if you liked the first one and the second one, we have something really rock ’em, shock ’em in the third one."

This all sounds very exciting, but since del Toro is hard at work on his upcoming gothic horror movie Crimson Peak, coming out later this year, and has Pacific Rim 2 (set to be released in 2017) on his plate as well, I wonder how long we’ll have to wait before getting Hellboy 3. What do you think?
