Guys, get ready to don your kiltsand ladies, get ready to swoonbecause Starz's upcoming time-traveling series Outlander has just cast its romantic male lead.

Starz has announced that relative newcomer—well, at least on this side of the pond—Sam Heughan has been cast in the lead role of chivalrous Scottish warrior Jamie Fraser. The actor has appeared in the U.K. on BBC soap Doctors and A Very British Sex Scandal.

The new TV series is adapted from author Diana Gabaldon’s highly successful book series, which follows the adventures of a married World War II nurse named Claire Randall who’s mysteriously sent back in time to 1743. There she embarks on a love affair with the dashing Jamie Fraser.

The new time-traveling drama from Battlestar Galactica executive producer Ronald D. Moore (who is also hard at work on Syfy's upcoming series Helix) will begin filming in the fall for a 2014 premiere.

Yep, we think Sam Heughan will look very dashing as Jamie Fraser. Very dashing indeed. Don't you guys agree? Are you looking forward to Outlander?
